Rare, Contemporary and BYO VHS NITE + 1-Year Anniversary Program: Arcade Evangelism; Pinball and The Cult of Personality
SIDE SIDE ROOM CINEMATHEQUE
MON 4/27 RE-PROGRAMMING 8PM-11PM
THEME: THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE (VHS)
DESC: relics and rarities from my personal vault, including
Black VVitch’s 2024 rerelease of Webster Colcord’s cult classic
“Doctor Death” (1989, 34 min)
plus underground Super8 filmmaker Nick Zedd (I Eat Scum)’s rarely seen:
“The Bogus Man” (1980, 11m) and
“The Wild World of Lydia Lunch” (1983, 28m)
As stated on this 1986 release by OTHER FILMS:
“To buy the film used to shoot his second movie, THE BOGUS MAN, Zedd took a job as a washroom attendant in a porno theater (...) For THE WILD WORLD OF LYDIA LUNCH Zedd decided to try a different method and therefore stole the thirteen rolls of film used to shoot his cinema milestone. Even so, five rolls were apparently stolen from Zedd himself by another cinema buff lacking even more scruples than the master.”
Feel free to bring tapes from your own collections to be screened (time permitting).

Just Announced:
Side Room Cinematheque ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY.
MAY 13 7PM (reception/raffle) 8PM-12AM (screening)
Some thoughts on 1: I honestly expected to have been shut down in some form by now. Luckily no one gives a shit, except the people who dig it, which just so happens to be the slogan printed on our limited edition ANNIVERSARY hats (available for pre-order).
To quote the ever-iconic Jim Carey; “Somebody Stop Me.”
“Don’t Talk About it Outside Cinema Club,” as it was first called (due to a misunderstanding in a text message), debuted on May 5th, 2025 with the listed theme “Arcade Evangelism: Pinball and the Cult of Personality”. And - since no one attended but Will K. (our poster boy), my mother, and a drunk couple from Illinois - I am just going to repeat that night’s line-up.
And so…
Don’t Call it a Recap,
ARCADE EVANGELISM: PINBALL AND THE CULT OF PERSONALITY 5/14/26
FEATURING:
2 Shorts by Experimental Animator SUZAN PITT:
“Pinball” (2013, 7m 9s)
“Asparagus” (1979, 18m)
“Asparagus” debuted as an opening short for David Lynch’s “Eraserhead” on it’s initial midnight movie roadshow. In that spirit we will be presenting it alongside an episode of Lynch’s 2002 animated series “Dumbland.”
“The Lotus Community Workshop” (from The 4th Dimension) (2012, Harmony Korine, 35m)
Val Kilmer gives a masterfully unhinged performance deserving of an Oscar in one of Korine’s best shorts.
“7/27/1978” aka “The Pipe Strip” (2017, Fatal Farms, 1h 1m)
The best video on youtube. By the only cult openly endorsed by Side Room Cinematheque, the cult of LasagnaCat.
And a feature film as yet to be determined.
